Mission Statement

Open to everyone regardless of income, the Community Food Co-op of Utah is a volunteer-driven, nonprofit, monthly food-purchasing cooperative designed to reduce food insecurity by providing Utahns with high quality fresh food at substantial savings. As a project of Crossroads Urban Center, our priority is to increase the participation of low-income people while building community.

Description

If you eat, you qualify. Anyone who wishes to join the co-op may do so by placing an order for a "Share" (a package of vegetables or meat or a combination of both). Each month members pre-order their groceries. You can order as many shares as you like, and how often you place an order is up to you. The share prices include 2 hours of volunteer time, either with the Co-op or in the community each month and we request that once a year members contribute 2 hours to the Co-op itself. Members pay for the order with cash, check, money order, credit card or Horizon (Food Stamp) cards. The members order once a month by the due date and on delivery day volunteers are coordinated to work at the warehouse, team sites and make deliveries for home-bound members. We use volunteers every step of the process throughout the month there are activities that require up to 80 volunteers and activities that only need 2. Please contact the Co-op at (801) 746-7878 to see when you can schedule your volunteer activity since the need changes daily. To view more information please go to www.foodco-op.net.
