Mission Statement

The ReUse People of America reduces the solid waste stream and changes the way the built environment is renewed by salvaging building materials and distributing them for reuse.

Description

The ReUse People does 4 things to accomplish its mission:

1. We sell, donate and distribute salvaged building materials. The sales and distribution of these materials is made by one of our retail-warehouses or those of our partners. These materials come from deconstructed buildings. Deconstruction is first step in green building.

2. We have deconstruction crews in Northern California who are contracted to carefully dismantle buildings and salvage the maximum amount of materials they can. These materials are then delived our retail store or one of our partners.

3. We train local forprofit contractors to salvage building materials to our specifications and deliver the materials to us.

4. Our consulting and training arm, The ReUse Institute conducts training, project management, consulting and specification writing for public and private building owners. A major part of these activities involves the training of unemployed and underemployed workers in the art and science of deconstruction. This training then leads workers into the green building opportunities.
