Description
Licking County C.E.R.T. is a volunteer community emergency response team.
The primary goal of CERT is to educate the community about disaster preparedness. CERT training is an 8 week course that focuses on disaster preparedness, fire suppression, medical operations, search and rescue, disaster psychology, and team organization.
The second part of CERT is community involvement. Once you attend the 8 week training you are given an opportunity to join the team. Licking County CERT has a very good relationship with Homeland Security, Emergency Management, and other local authorities.
Disaster Response:
During a disaster situation the team functions as an assistant to local first responders. The team has also been given the task of coordinating volunteer efforts during a disaster or emergency situation.
Non-emergency:
CERT has a strong belief in community involvement. In non-emergency situations CERT will assist in community events including but not limited to parades, festivals, flu clinics, outreach programs and public gatherings.
CERT is truly a "for the community by the community" organization.
