Mission Statement

As Guardians of the Past, and Stewards for the Future, Eastern States is committed to sustaining the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands spanning the 31 states east of and bordering the Mississippi River for present and furture generations.

Description

The Bureau of Land Management's Eastern States office is responsible for the stewardship of public lands and resources in the 31 States east of, and bordering on, the Mississippi River. Our office administers 30,000 surface acres of subsurface Federal mineral estate. Major programs include: Cadastral Survey, General Land Office Records, Wild Horse and Burro Program, Energy and Minerals and Communication.
