Mission Statement

Opera Noir is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization with a mission to promote cultural diversity in the classical arts. The company is committed to preserving and performing the works of African American composers and artists in addition to performing traditional European Classical Music. The shared goal of the Board of Directors and the Founder, J. Rosalynn Smith-Clark is to establish Opera Noir as a world-class professional performing company that provides educational outreach to school aged children, and performance development opportunities for emerging artists.

Description

Since being founded in 1999, Opera Noir has touched the lives of more than 15,000 children with the beauty of the Arts and the benefits of Arts Education. Most of those children have been from under-served communities and of special needs, in many cases providing their first exposure to the Arts. In February 2010, Opera Noir will be presenting,"Soul Sistahs"; a sassy, soulful stage show featuring J. Rosalynn Smith-Clark, that celebrates the accomplishments of African American Female Performers.
