Mission Statement

Museum Village is a living history museum preserving a vast collection of eclectic, 19th
century artifacts for educational purposes. Using these artifacts and reproductions, we provide hands-on experiences and exhibits illustrating
the transition from a rural to an industrial culture and economy in America, provoking thought and discussion about history.

Description

Located on 30 acres 45 miles north of NYC, Museum Village presents 19th century history through a series of exhibits and demonstrations in a recreated village. The blacksmith shop, drug store, general store, school house, and candleshop present some of the trades of the era. The natural history building displays a mastodon skeleton, as well as a number of natyral and scientific artifacts. We also maintain a number of collections that are not on display.

We offer a series of events every year, as well as an extensive field trip program for schools and regular hours in the summer time for casual visitors.
