Description

There are four residential programs served by Ruth Dykeman Children's Center. Children and adolescents ages 8 to 17, who are recovering from a history of abuse, neglect, behavioral and mental health challenges, live in both short-term and long-term housing, where they receive therapy in a highly structured environment and learn to create and maintain healthy relationships and make positive life choices.

Ruth Dykeman Youth & Family Services (YFS) offers families and individuals facing social, emotional and economic challenges, innovative and culturally sensitive programs that build on the individual's own strength. YFS, combined with services in the Highline and Tukwila schools and Burien Youth Health Center are home to mental health, alcohol and other drug counseling and prevention programs.

Ruth Dykeman Children Center is a great organization to volunteer at. The people are really nice to work with and I've been gaining a lot of work experience. Contacting Ruth Dykeman and applying for the volunteer position was really easy for me. Corrigan (VP and main contact person) was very quick to respond to emails so I was able to start volunteering shortly after our first correspondence. Having worked past my required 20 hours, I plan to keep volunteering as long as I can because it's been really fun and fulfilling to be able to help out this organization.
