Mission Statement

To empower African girls through education.

Description

SHARE: Shannon's After-school Reading Exchange, founded by Shannon McNamara, has created 3 "girls only"reading programs in Bukoba, Tanzania, East Africa.

SHARE renovates deteriorated classrooms, creates school libraries, and employs teachers.

In the USA, SHARE gives presentations to mobilize students to hold fundraisers and book drives, enabling SHARE to ship tons of donated children's books and school supplies to Tanzania.

To date SHARE has built 3 new school libraries equipped with 21,000 books for 2,500 students and 35 teachers. SHARE also operates 'girls only' programs serving 150 female students. Over the past 18 months 800 American students have volunteered thousands of hours collecting, sorting, labeling, boxing, and shipping supplies 10,000 miles to Africa to help impoverished children their age.

Our motto: Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.
