Mission Statement

The mission of Yakima Neighborhood Health Services (YNHS) is to provide accessible, affordable, quality health care, and to promote learning opportunities for students of health professions.

Description

Yakima Neighborhood Health Services is a JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations) accredited, full-scope medical clinic serving a growing population of clients. YNHS is committed to providing the highest level of quality to every customer of our organization. We offer our clients several services, including: breastfeeding education, case management, childbirth education, healthcare application assistance, maternity support services, medical care, dental care, pharmacy, and WIC.

YNHS, a private nonprofit health clinic in Yakima, was founded in 1975 to provide preventive health care and education services to low-income people. The original YNHSprograms included senior screen physicals, Stop Smoking clinics, weight loss counseling, well child exams, and various employment physicals. One physician and four support staff provided care to approximately 20 patients per day.

In 1996, services increased by 91% over the previous year. This dramatic increase in medical, dental and public health services continues to verify the need in Yakima for service to the disadvantaged of our community.

In 2004, over 15,000 residents received medical care, 4,000 received dental care, and more than 25,000 received WIC, maternity support services, and maternity case management. Today, an average of 500 patients and clients are served each day by primary care, dental, and public health providers in our Yakima and Sunnyside offices.
