Mission Statement

The purpose of SAFE is to provide financial support for the South Carolina’s CDC community as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). SAFE’s mission is to provide low cost and/or alternative financial products to assist the State’s CDC community access project related or other financing. Other financing may include financing that they are unable to obtain without SAFE’s support or financial backing; otherwise innovative financing that they the CDC’s would not be able to access. SAFE’s goals, which they share with the South Carolina Association for Community Development Corporations, Inc. is "to improve the quality of life and expand the economic base and revitalize South Carolina’s distressed urban and rural communities".

Description

The Southern Association for Financial Empowerment was established by the South Carolina Association of Community Development Corporations (SCACDC) in response to the need for a statewide provider of flexible innovative capital for CDCs. We have made tremendous progress towards becoming a sustainable Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI).
