Together We Cope assists families in temporary crisis from Bremen, Orland, Palos and Worth townships in Chicago’s southern suburbs. TWC is a homeless prevention agency, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that responds directly to some needs and helps clients make connections that can address other issues. The primary goal is to help clients return to self-sufficiencyand avoid becoming homeless. The agency provides rental assistance or mortgage and foreclosure counseling, helps pay delinquent utility bills and sometimes prescription medicine costs. Improving the lives of women and children is a primary focus of TWC’s efforts.
TWC operates a food pantry for regular clients and for the local homeless population. TWC is a Greater Chicago Food Depository agency. The agency also operates a resale shop that stocks both new clothing and gently usedappareland household items. Clients receive many items free, and the store also is open to the general public. Donations from the community are the lifeblood of the resale shop. Volunteers are an integral part of both operations. More than 200 people, including many retired professionals, donate their talent to all facets of the agency.
Together We Cope is a 501c3 non-profit corporation assisting families in times of crisis.
Currently on a weekly basis more than 600 families will depend on TWC to halt a foreclosure, escape a violent living situation, feed their families, or provide life saving medication and the needs continue to increase.
