Mission Statement

Young Audiences of Western New York is dedicated to bringing the arts to young people through high-quality arts performances and workshops. Provided in schools and community venues, these programs include theater, dance, music, and the visual and literary arts. In addition, Young Audiences offers professional development, long-term residencies, and partnerships with local organizations and corporations.

Description

Every school year, Young Audiences provides hundreds of assembly performances, workshops and long-term residencies in the arts. From poetry workshops to jazz performances, every discipline is explored by professional teachinga artists. These programs occur in area schools, libraries, after school centers and other community organizations.

In addition, we host an annual conference dedicated to addressing alternative learning styles, and have recently begun partnering with the Albright-Knox to provide arts programs during select Gusto at the Gallery Free Fridays.

Longer term residencies include a thirty-five week program that uses dance to teach fitness skills; a multidisplinary program provided to special needs students, called "A Rhythm Runs Through It"; and our Erie Canal and Phonics programs, which with the support of the Buffalo Teachers Resource Center have enriched Buffalo Public School curricula for the past seven years.
