Hermitage National Historic Landmark

Mission Statement

The Hermitage, a National Historic Landmark located in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, host to several luminaries during the American Revolutionary period, appears today as it was remodeled in 1847 by the noted architect, William Ranlett, and is a significant example of the Gothic Revival style. The Friends of the Hermitage, Inc. was established to restore, maintain and interpret The Hermitage, along with its grounds and outbuildings. Our mission is not only to provide these services, but also to interpret to a diverse audience of students, scholars and the general public the site, its archives and its collections as they relate to local, regional and national history beginning in 1740. To this end, a broad range of educational programs and special events are offered throughout the year to benefit school children as well as the public at large.
