Description

The Scott County Partnership is first and foremost a planning council comprised of representatives from manufacturing, small business, finance, education, faith, local government, social services, and the community at-large. The Planning Council regularly assesses needs and assets of the community. As a partnership, the group attempts to strategize methods of meeting needs and filling in gaps.

Since its inception in 1998, the Partnership established a Clearinghouse to assist with emergency needs of its citizens such as food, clothing, utility/rent assistance, etc. It built a LifeLong Learning Center where "Work One" is housed along with an Industrial Training Center, Center for Women & Families, and Adult Literacy Center. In 2008, Court Appointed Special Advocates began through the Scott County Partnership for Scott County.

Beginning in 2002, the Partnership was given a CAPE grant through Lilly Endowment in order to improve educational outcomes in Scott County. Reality Stores, Drop Out Prevention Task Force, the Scott County Attendance Review Board, Career Clusters, Second Chance credit recovery, after-school programs all developed from this time period and happen still.

The Scott County AmeriCorps program came in 2006 to assist with the variety of educational programs and crisis assistance programs that are now part of the fabric of the community.
