Mission Statement

Camp Fire USA build caring, confident youth and future leaders.

Description

Camp Fire USA is an all-inclusive, coeducational youth development organization helping young people learn to become better stewards of their communities, their world, and themselves.

Camp Fire USA serves nearly three-quarters of a million young people annually with community-based experiential learning programs that are socially responsible and environmentally focused.

Founded in 1910, Camp Fire USA is one of America's oldest national youth development organizations with programs that include youth leadership, self-reliance, after school groups, camping and environmental education and childcare.

Serving youth from birth to 21, Camp Fire USA helps boys and girls learn - and play - side by side in comfortable, informal settings. Our coed programs allow parents to consolidate schedules for both their daughters and sons.

As the first nonsectarian, interracial organization for girls in the United States, Camp Fire USA takes pride in its long-standing commitment to providing fun programs and services to all children and families in America. We are inclusive; open to every person in the communities we serve, welcoming children, youth and adults regardless of race, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation or other aspect of diversity.

Locally, Camp Fire USA Adahi Council upholds the mission of the national headquarters by serving over 7,500 youth annually. Established in 1914, the Adahi Council is one of the oldest remaining Camp Fire councils in the nation. Adahi Council supports families in Berks, Bradford, Chester, Cumberland, Lehigh, Montgomery, Philadelphia and Schuylkill Counties. Adahi is a council steeped in growth, tradition and service. Its goal is to provide continuing confidence-building programs and services to all children and families in our area.

Perhaps better known locally as "Camp Adahi", the Adahi Council is recognized for serving over 3,000 youth per year who participate in summer camp, environmental programs, and year-round outdoor programs at the Council-owned 104+ acre property in Mohnton, PA. Camp Adahi is also the location of the council's main office and a full-year, state approved childcare, and the origin of the council's name.

Nearly a century of experience as a leader in providing programs and services to youth and their families has allowed Camp Fire USA and its councils to carve out a unique niche in the youth development movement in America. Camp Fire provides coeducational programs that help both girls and boys cultivate their unique talents and skills. More importantly, Camp Fire offers all families, whatever family may look like in today's society, life-enhancing experiences and the opportunity to serve, play and grow together. We believe that the best youth development takes place in small group environments where youth have an opportunity to interact with adults and other youth in a safe, fun environment that allows them to develop personal skills and ongoing relationships with others in the group.

Our programs include but are not limited to:
Outdoor Education • Clubs • Childcare • Self-Reliance • Service-Learning • Community Family Club

Five essential elements derived from the mission statement and core values drive every program we offer:

    • We are youth-centered.
    • We engage the family in fun and
    outcome-rich activities.
    • We are welcoming and inclusive.
    • We build youth and adult partnerships.
    • We provide service to others.
