Mission Statement
The mission of HOPE worldwide - Alaska Chapter is to mobilize communities to deliver sustainable, high-impact services to the poor and needy of Alaska.
Description
HOPE worldwide's international vision is simple: "to bring hope and change the lives of the world's most poor, sick and suffering." The Alaska Chapter localizes that vision. We believe that true hope and change come through empowerment, not enablement. Some of the major human challenges in Alaska include alcohol and drug abuse, depression and suicide, and the highest school dropout rates in the nation. Our vision is to empower Alaska's youth and their families to overcome these challenges by engaging them through mentoring, providing positive role models and helping them grow as people. Essentially, we are helping them help themselves. Volunteers construct the foundation of all of our programs and services--because strong communities are built upon themselves.
