Mission Statement

The Cornel West Academy of Excellence (CWAE) holds itself accountable to produce intelligent, courageous, critical thinking, loving, and serving young men that will always use hope, justice, and faith to create positive change in his community. These young men will always do what is right for himself, and his fellow man.

Description

CWAE truly believes that young black boys need to be exposed to positive role models and all around positive African American men at a very early age. The organization believes that black boys need to know that with hard work, sacrifice, and faith they can achieve anything.
CWAE plans to give young black boys that exposure through several different programs. Those programs will range from college trips, to community activities, and to mentoring. Education will be stressed more than anything else. Education will be key to the ultimate success that is being sought by African American young men.

I am parent of an at risk African American male and can relate to some of the frustrations that we, the parents, go through in finding groups such as this one to get our males involved in. I have always wanted to be a part/or start a group that gives our male youth some positive forces to get them on the right track and that they remain on. I see some of the effects of not having those positive role models around and not always having the support of the school system. I look forward to hearing from someone in this organization.
