Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.

Talbot Mentors' mission is to match young people in Talbot County with volunteer mentors in order to support those children in the challenges of adolescence through friendship, guidance, and education.
Talbot Mentors provides local children in need with the additional guidance and encouragement of a caring adult friend. The organization recruits, screens and trains adult men and women to volunteer as mentors. Each mentor and mentee are thoughtfully matched taking mutual interests and personalities into consideration.
Participants meet for 1-2 hours a week outside of school. Popular mentoring activities include sports and outdoor activities, arts and crafts, attending community events, reading and doing homework, eating together and just hanging out. Program staff provide volunteers with ongoing support toward creating a positive mentoring experience for both the students and the mentors.
