Mission Statement

The goals of the Coverdell Volunteer Intervention Team tutoring program are to strengthen student performance in reading and math, to provide one-on-one instruction for our school's at-risk population, to aide teachers in providing academic interventions with individual students, and to provide enriching volunteer experiences for community members.

Description

The Coverdell Intervention Team works one-on-one with students from Kindergarten through Fourth Grade to improve their skills in Reading and Math.

Volunteers attend a short orientation to the building, undergo a formal background check, are matched with a few students, and assigned simple reading and math activities and games to do with them.

We are searching for nurturing adults who are willing to volunteer a few hours a week to help strengthen student performance at Coverdell Elementary. Many students just need someone to listen to them read or work with them on flashcards or computer games.

You can give as little as one hour per week and get to work with kids one on one. You help students build confidence in reading and math.
