Mission Statement

The mission of the Community Dispute Resolution Center is to foster constructive responses to conflict. The Vision of CDRC Vision is to see CDRC as an integral part of a community where conflict inevitably occurs and where individuals value themselves, value others, and value relationships. We envision a community where:  people accept the inevitability of conflict and understand what it does to human interactions  people are willing to ask for help when conflict makes decision-making difficult  people are able to encourage others who are involved in conflict to seek help  everyone knows someone with the knowledge and skills to help others who are involved in conflict  all are encouraged to explore the creative tension between autonomy and connection with others.

Description

The Community Dispute Resolution Center provides conciliation and mediation (in some cases arbitration) services for a wide range of situations.

CDRC mediation programs provide an enhanced quality of life to the current residents of the communities in which it is located. Programs typically address conflicts involving custody and visitation, the placement and care of elderly citizens, workplace disputes and disagreements between neighbors. Conflict is inevitable. Poorly handled, it is costly, financially and otherwise. Managed well in the expert hands of CDRC volunteer mediators, conflict becomes an empowering process of life-long skill building that results in constructive, satisfying, long-term and affordable resolutions for all participating parties.
