Description
The American Lung Association of Hawaii EDUCATES the public about lung disease through programs such as Open Airways for Schools and Kokua Na Keiki Asthma Sports Day Camp. Music with a Message, Tabacco-Free Teens and other peer programs are offered to school as part of our Tobacco Control eforts. We also update health professionals through workshops and seminars. Our volunteers of all ages ADVOCATE for tobacco control, clean air, tuberculosis, licensure and other lung disease initiatives at the county, state and national levels. Becoming one of our advocates is easy - you can call or write lawmakers, prepare and give written testimony, or phone other volunteers. Five Lung Association offices throughout the islands SUPPORTS Hawaii's people through patient counseling and referral, workshops, support groups, quit-smoking programs such as Freedom From Smoking, company smoke-free self-help aids, review of Environmental Impact Statements and educational activities at health fairs.
