Mission Statement
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope. Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seek to put God's love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman, and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. No one lives in dignity until we all do.
Description
Habitat for Humanity builds decent affordable housing for people living in poverty. Habitat is not a handout but a hand up. Homeowner's pay for their houses, but are given the necessary tools/skills to maintain their home and have a successful homeownership experience.
Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1987 by local volunteers. As of January 1st, 2019 we have built 138 homes in the Greeley-Weld County area. We have also constructed the first 3 Veterans homes built by Habitat in Colorado and are working on the 4th!
