Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
To provide a strongest, positive and self enhancing developmental foundation to lower income families, seniors, veterans and youth through education, grooming, , training, employment & housing resources and compassion through the generosity of our contributors. We hope to not only offer free sustenance but empower the community with the tools needed to rise above circumstance and improve their way of living.
Avert 1 Community & Urban Youth Outreach and Training Center, a non-profit organization, was started in the home of military veteran Sherman Leroy Adams, its founders, in 1991 with the assistance of his attorney James Banks. Their hearts went out to low income families, youth, elderly, veterans and handicapped in our community who were struggling to meet their basic necessities of life. In the early days, we were providing food to one or two families each month and quickly saw that the need was much greater. Eventually, we started providing groceries each week. We also provided clothing, education, housing assistance, employment resources and transportation also food baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas. With the help of Military Defense Center in Columbus Ohio we were also able to assist families with Toys for Tots. In January of 2008 we acquired Empowerment Homes CSA located in Akron Oh, to be our newest addition to the family. Avert 1 is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization based out of Columbus, OH. Avert 1 is an organization that is funded through a variety of public and private sources and we welcome tax deductible donations as well. Our goal is to not only offer free sustenance but to empower clients to rise above their circumstances and improve their way of life.
