Description
Expressions is a liturgical dance troupe that has emerged as a community outreach designed to impact lives through the creative expression of dance. In 1999 Expressions began to minister dance at local churches, women's events, community outreaches and weddings. Over the years the organization's performances have touched the lives of thousands of audience members.
For the past ten years, under the direction of Founder Lavinia Marshall, Expressions has facilitated dance workshops, taught dance classes, and sponsored dance teams for youth and adults, notably women and children. The workshops have included "Simply Ministry" and "Dancing in the Spirit"
In 2008 out of a desire to serve the local community, Expressions established a youth development community initiative to reach the youth. The "Dance withExpressions" program utilizes dance as a tool to increase self esteem and to develop character and leadership skills. Through the creative expression of dance, we have the opportunity to provide physical outlets for students that foster self-esteem and confidence, provide physical activities, and support positive character development to a generation faced with many challenges. These skills will benefit the students as they apply them academically and socially in the school room, at home and in their community.
