Mission Statement
The Mentors at Drew Project aims for the children in our program to achieve the following through the establishment of a positive relationship with a Drew University community member: Discover personal strengths and build on them. Discover and explore possibilities for the future. Learn how to solve problems and resolve conflicts without violence. Learn to set and achieve goals that are: Specific Measurable Achievable Relevant Timed. Learn about college life. Understand what it will take to get to college and gain awareness of available resources. Gain knowledge of the benefits of education.
Description
Drew is a University composed of The College of Liberal Arts, The Theological School, The Caspersen School of Graduate Studies. The Mentors at Drew Project is a partnership between the University and 10,000 Mentors/Big Brothers and Big Sisters of New Jersey. We bring Newark Public School children ages 8 to 13 to the university campus weekly to spend one on one time with their mentors who are Drew students and staff members.
