Mission Statement

The Mission of the Medical Equipment Recycling Program is to provide area residents access to refurbished medical equipment who do not have the financial means or insurance coverage to purchase new medical equipment. We accomplish our mission by collecting used medical equipment, refurbishing it and distributing this equipment to those in need to help them maximize independence in daily living.

Description

Non-profit oranganization start in January 1999 with a grant from the Community Health Foundation of UP

Ø Opened in January '99 with a $46,000 grant from the UPMC Horizon Foundation

Ø Cited in the same year by Case Western Reserve as an innovative grassroots community program

Ø To date, has assisted over 3,646 recipients receive durable medical equipment

Ø Encompasses Mercer County in its entirety

o Operates from three sites: Farrell, Greenville, Grove City

Ø Received the Phoenix Award from the county's Chamber of Commerce in May '07

Ø Equipment now has an estimated value of over $650,000

Ø Advisory committee consists of Foundation board members and community individuals who believe in the mission of the program

Ø Foundation is committed to sustaining the program with support from similar-minded funding sources
