Mission Statement

To inform and educate the public about sudden cardiac arrest and the importance of early defibrillation Our vision is to maximize every opportunity to create awareness throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Description

SCAA is the nation's largest public advocacy organization exclusively dedicated to sudden cardiac arrest awareness (SCA) and prevention. As a patient advocate, Chapter Leader, Cassandra Lynch has seen the devastating impact of SCA when her 36-year-old brother collapsed while playing basketball.

Unfortunately, the facility did not have an automated external defibrillator (AED) or staff trained in CPR. Her brother survived but suffered brain damage and experienced months of physical and speech therapy. As a result of this experience, she is dedicated to informing and educating the public about SCA and the importance of an AED.

Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a leading cause of death in the United States, claiming nearly 300,000 lives each year. During a sudden cardiac arrest, heart function ceases - abruptly and without warning. When this occurs, the heart is no longer able to pump blood to the rest of the body, and in some 95 % of victims, death occurs.
