Mission Statement

Project Understanding is a faith-based agency founded and established on the principles and ideals of Judaism and Christianity whose mission is two-fold: To do justice by serving the poor, hungry and oppressed with compassion and mercy, and to provide avenues for those who wish to serve others.

Description

Services we provide:

Transition house - a 2 year program where families are supported with the the assistance of a case manager and mentoring family to help with job and life skills (all facets of their life). It is a launching pad to elevate them to the next level upon completion of program.

Counseling services/information repository - We do a needs assessment and streamline the search process for our clients by connecting them with services in the area that meet the needs and challenges they currently face.

Emergency Pantry - Currently open 3 days a week to anyone with a picture I.D. We offer both perishable and non perishable items.

S.H.O.R.E. - (Supportive Housing in a Residential Environment) A brand new facility where previously unhoused families live for two years with the assistance of a case manager.

Tutoring - 6 tutoring sites that provide FREE tutoring to elementary students by volunteers.

Homeless Services Center - Offers a place for showers, laundry, mail pick up, community, support and respect.

I think it is a very organized, and the people are compassionate. I get food there once every two months to help cover when my foods stamps run out. I am not working right now just finishing up on my A.S. in Addictive Disorders. I am very grateful for my help I have got in times needs.
