Mission Statement
The YMCA of Orange County puts Christian principles into practice through programs that build spirit, mind and body for all. YCS helps build vital, connected communities that address unmet human needs in Orange County through its own programs and services and by acting as a catalyst for individual, family and corporate engagement.
Description
YMCA Community Services was established in 1972 for the purpose of providing services to high-risk youth and families throughout Orange County. YCS currently manages 4 long-standing social service programs (ARK Services for Abused Children, New Horizons, Counseling/Childcare Health Consultation and the Bereaved Parents Support Group) that address specific community needs and form the foundation of the branch's reputation, experience and infrastructure. ARK Services for Abused Children offers mentoring, tutoring, and monthly Funday events for foster children between the ages of 5-18. New Horizons Program provides opportunities for developmentally disabled adults. Childcare Health Consultation Program provides health, safety, and behavioral consultations, training, and referrals. The team consists of Health Educators, Behavioral Health Specialists, a Public Health Nurse, and a Bi-Lingual Counselor. Bereaved Parents Support Group offers a weekly support group to parents who have lost a child.
