Since our founding in 1970, our dedicated volunteers have been instrumental in our service delivery, leaving a legacy of compassion. Join our vibrant community of volunteers and make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors. Food Pantry Volunteers help with food instability in our community. Your support provides essential services in providing care and assistance to those in need. Duties include Sorting food donations Sorting and assembling food bags Requires excellent teamwork skills, empathy and non-judgmental attitude, and ability to work calmly with individuals experiencing high crisis and anxiety in their lives. Shifts: 3 hours shifts Monday -Friday Volunteers volunteer for 1 shift a week for a minimum of 3 month Volunteers work together in the social services area. Work may include reaching, bending, lifting, pushing, and walking. All volunteers must attend an online orientation to learn about our different volunteer opportunities, procedures, volunteer scheduling, and answer your questions. If your group is interested in setting up a day to volunteer, please contact volunteers@shareourselves.org. For corporate groups and school organizations your team will be joining us in the food panty. We have a maximum of 10 volunteers at one time, we can split the group up into separate times if it is over 10 people. Your volunteers will volunteer in our food pantry help with food instability in our community. Your support provides essential services in providing care and assistance to those in need. Duties include Sorting food donations Sorting and assembling food bags Sorting and labeling donated items such as clothing and hygiene products Requires excellent teamwork skills, empathy and non-judgmental attitude, and ability to work calmly with individuals experiencing high crisis and anxiety in their lives. Share Ourselves Community Programs: Food Pantry (Year-Round) Fill our shelves with canned goods, non-perishable items, and desserts Non-cooking Lunch Bags - sandwiches, chips, juice, yogurt, juice, and snacks. Hygiene Items - New toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, razors, deodorant, etc. Preferably travel sized Baby care products - new items only including diapers, formula, bottles, baby food, etc. Cold weather clothing such as hats, socks, shoes, scarves, coats and blankets School Readiness Program (Year-Round) School supplies Backpacks Thanksgiving Food Drive (November) Thanksgiving food items for families (non-perishable items) Donations of gift cards to grocery stores Frozen chicken, turkey or ham Adopt a Family Program (December) Donations of gift cards to grocery stores Toys for children ages 2-17 Cold weather clothing such as hats, socks, shoes, scarves, coats and blankets Games for the family For more information about our Community Programs please go to https://shareourselves.org/get-involved/events-programs/ For any questions please contact volunteers@shareourselves.org. To volunteer for our Community Programs Please fill out an application on Share Our Selves (volunteerhub.com). Only one application is needed for each group. Once you fill out an application, please contact volunteers@shareourselves.org. You do not need to attend orientation if you are only volunteering for a Community Event. All community event volunteer will be required to attend a huddle before an event going over the details and information for the day. Prior to the event, participants will receive a timeline of the event, their assignment, and details about the event. Other training will be provided, as necessary. Requirements to Volunteer for Community Programs: Must be at least 12 years old with an adult chaperone over the age of 18 in attendance. One adult chaperone is required for up to every 5 volunteers. Chaperones are to monitor volunteers under the age of 18 at all community programs.
