Mission Statement
The Junior Woman's Club of Sparta is a group of more than 30 energetic, dynamic women who are dedicated to making a difference. There is a good blend of stay-at-home moms and career women. We have been servicing Sparta and the surrounding areas for 40 years. Most of our time is devoted to charity and service, but we hold an array of social events with members, families and children.
Description
The Junior Woman's Club of Sparta (JWCS) is a non-profit, civic organization for women committed to promoting volunteerism, improving our community and fostering new friendships. The JWCS was formed in 1966 and is part of The New Jersey State Federation of Woman's Clubs of GWFC-Junior Membership.
The women in the club work on various projects and fundraisers throughout the year with the goal of contributing to the community in a significant way. The JWCS also has many social activities including movie nights, book clubs, Halloween parties for the kids and more.
Some of our favorite projects this past year were the 5 th Grade Spelling Bee; Wish Tree; Make a Difference Day and Tie-A-Ribbon Campaign. During the 2008-09 the JWCS donated over $29,000 to local, national and international charities. Of that money, $8,200 was donated toward the rebuild of Kids Kastle at Station Park. Other local donations were made to the Sparta Library, Sparta DARE Program, Sparta Ambulance, Sparta Parks and Recreation, Sparta Volunteer Fire Department and College Scholarships to local young women. Other organizations that were supported throughout the county include: Birth Haven, DASI, Samaritan Inn, SCARC, Sussex County YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and the Sussex County Red Cross.
There are many departments that make up our club and each performs wonderful acts for the community.
