Given the uncertain upcoming changes that will affect our communities, we are preparing for Peace Over Violence’s Winter 2025 Counselor Advocate Training. The time to act is now. Our communities are preparing to unite for a stronger, more just, and caring future. One that prioritizes freedom, safety, dignity, peace, and self-determination for all. This is a call to action for all who believe in standing together, for all who know that our communities are our strength. Let's make our voices heard and our actions felt. Our Counselor Advocate Training will begin Wednesday, January 8th, 2025. Peace Over Violence will be hosting several Information Sessions and an IG Live to provide a brief overview of the training and volunteering for those who are interested. If you’d like more information about Peace Over Violence and our Volunteer Opportunities please visit https://www.peaceoverviolence.org/volunteer Peace Over Violence is offering an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in becoming volunteers through our Counselor Advocate Training program. This training will take place from January 2025 to March 2025 and is designed to equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in the field of violence prevention and intervention. Counselor Advocate Volunteers play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. As part of the program, volunteers will be trained to handle crisis calls through the 24-hour L.A. Rape and Battering Crisis Line, respond to Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) centers, and provide immediate crisis intervention services to survivors and their loved ones. Additionally, Counselor Advocates in the DART program work closely with law enforcement personnel, offering support to survivors during domestic violence incidents. Information on training dates for our Winter 2025 training and how to submit an application is below: 72hr training Counselor Advocate Training Training Days Wednesdays, 6:30pm-9:30pm (virtual) & Saturdays, 9am-5pm (in-person) No training on January 18th, Martin Luther King Weekend No training on February 15th, President's Day Weekend Start Date Wednesday, January 8 th, 2025 Graduation Day Saturday, March 1 st, 2025 We will discontinue accepting applications by December 20 th, 2024 .
