Description

America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia utilizes food and education to improve lives and create a hunger-free community. Second Harvest serves 21 coastal Georgia counties where over 147,000 people that live in the service area that live at or below the poverty level. Each year, over 114,000 of these individuals are assisted with their food needs. The mission of the food bank is to lead the effort to end hunger and improve lives. Our goal is to feed the hungry by distributing nutritious food to nonprofit agencies and at risk elderly and youth, to assist in disaster relief, and work towards long term solutions to hunger and poverty.

This is a very fun and rewarding way to volunteer. The staff is very friendly and welcome anyone that wants to help out. This event for the brown bag is on a Saturday once a month you can find a updated calendar in their website. You can just search them online second harvest food bank. You can also assist them on weekdays with the food bank.
