Mission Statement

To raise the awareness of the reality of hunger, both locally and throughout the world, and to gather food and monetary resources to be used in fighting that hunger in our community and globally.

Description

It conducts food drives for the Grand Island Food Pantry and raises funds through an annual event which is a silent auction called the "Easter Basket Extravaganza" It also raises funds through most major food centers in Grand Island through the "Food Bucks" program. It publishes a quarterly newsletter. It conducts an annual "Harvest Festival for World Hunger" around Thanksgiving. It provids and delivers around 150 food baskets for holiday dinners at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It picks up and delivers (left over)pizzas from 3 local restaurants every noon to families who can use them. It created TOODLES the big-hearted girrafe whose message is to "Have a Big Heart for the Hungry."
