Mission Statement

The Jon Sims Center for the Arts is a multidisciplinary performing arts presenter and service organization that offers programs that address the artistic, educational and community social needs of the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgendered (LGBT) communities of the Bay Area. JSC ensures access to the creative process and we believe that the process and product of creative activity have equal value, that all talent is worthy of development, and that artistic expression is essential to our communities' health. We believe the arts provide a blueprint of culture, transcribing one generation to the next and shaping our communities' self-identity.

Description

We implement our mission by providing the resources for and promoting the development of original work by emerging artists and work by our community-based resident programs, by providing a program of fiscal sponsorship, and by providing low-cost rental space for performances, classes, rehearsals, workshops, auditions and meetings for hundreds of artists each year.
