Mission Statement

To implement the recommendations proposed for the Uptown Queen Anne Urban Center in the Queen Anne Neighborhood Plan; to study and consider for implementation other proposals for the betterment of Uptown; and to promote a sustainable, civil and enjoyable environment in Uptown.

Description

The Uptown Alliance was formed in January 1999 by a group of residents who came to consensus that there needs to be a neighorhood organization in what was formerly called Lower Queen Anne neighborhood. Anyone who resides, works, owns property or otherwise cares about this rapidly changing urban neighborhood is considered a stakeholder and invited to join the Alliance. We are actively creating new institutions, guidelines for land use, events, and opportunities for neighbors to meet neighbors. Multi-family residences are the dominant housing type in Uptown. The regional venue known as the Seattle Center, formerly the 1962 World's Fair grounds, is included in the boundaries of the Uptown Urban Center as defined by the City of Seattle.
