Description
Hazelwood Harvest Gardenshave been installed on once-abandoned city and Urban Redevelopment lots in the Hazelwood section of Pittsburgh one of the city's poorest neighborhoods. The gardens are attended to lovingly and collectively by neighborhood youth, youth volunteer groups from local churches, YMCA kids, SCA Student Conservation Association Youth, and local Adult Volunteers who enjoy growing things together. There is no selection process and the gardens plays host to whomever wants to enjoy working with youth and growing produce. Groups have come from as far away as the Bahamas to play a role in bringing fresh produce to the community.
