We are in need of foster homes for all types of situations: Young kittens who are weaned from their mothers, but not yet old enough for adoption Pregnant/nursing moms with their babies Bottle babies Adult cats who are in need of quarantine Adult cats who need assessment/socialization What you would need: An area of your home where the fosters can be kept separate (a guest room, study, or bathroom works great) Some time every day to devote to the fosters (amount depends on age of the fosters) Typically, the foster homes provide the food and litter. Protectors of Animals provides for the rest, including all medical care No experience with fostering is necessary. Protectors of Animals has an excellent support network of foster homes and our medical team. Training is provided. If kittens are not your calling we have many adult cats we would like to get into a safe environment until a space opens up at the Cat Adoption Center. Please complete an application at www.poainc.org.

This is an opportunity to help stray and abandoned cats and kittens get into a healthy environment and prepare them for a new life in a forever home. Clean and Feed Volunteers are needed at the Cat Adoption Center for 2 to 3 hour shifts, morning and evening. Duties include feeding the cats, maintaining their cat condos, scooping litter boxes, washing dishes, laundry, sweeping and cleaning floors, and general cleaning of the adoption center. The morning teams are structured with a team leader and 5 volunteers to accomplish a clean and healthy environment for our resident cats and volunteers. The evening Clean and Feed is a lighter duty with tidying the condo while feeding the cats. There is an immediate need for all AM shifts. There is a set schedule so volunteers are always on the same shift. If you are not available for every shift on a particular day we can arrange alternate weeks. Volunteers must have their own health insurance. We do NOT accept: - court ordered community service - school project hours - people under 18, even if accompanied by an adult - less than a six month commitment

Many cats come to our shelter fearful, timid and shy. This behavior is due to abandonment, lack of socialization and proper handling. Your help is needed to show these cats kindness in a controlled and supportive manner to prepare them for adoption. Volunteer applicants must be available Monday through Friday as the shelter is too active on the weekends with adoptions and events. Applicants must be willing to work with the shy, timid and sometimes tougher cats. (Training is provided.) We do NOT accept: - court ordered community service - school project hours - people under 18, even if accompanied by an adult - less than a six-month commitment
