The Children's Village of Sonoma County

Description

The Children's Village of Sonoma County is home to 24 children in foster care. The children are provided with social and recreational opportunities to enrich their home life. Volunteers have an integral role at the Village, teaching the children meaningful and fun activities such as art, music, sports, gardening, and cooking.

Homes have "Village Parents" who are responsible for nurturing and caring for the children, and for meeting their individual and family needs. "Village Grandparents" live on site and offer an inter-generational component.

The Village model values relationship building and developing a sense of safety and permanence for the children.
