The Museum was first accredited in 1972 by the American Association of Museums and has continued to be accredited by the AAM since that time. As of 2008, our permanent collection contains over 100,000 items, mostly gifts from the community.

I volunteered at the Massillon Museum in high school and summers home from college. I felt I was given experience and projects that helped me grow as a professional and step with confidence into the work force - as the Museum's Volunteer Coordinator!
We are a small staff, and it does get busy at times, but we and all the volunteers work together as a team to make an event successful.
