Mission Statement

Capital BookShare is a nonprofit organization committed to the belief that all children deserve access to good books in their schools. Working across communities, with the help of parents, students and teachers, books are shared, finding classrooms where they are needed most. Together in this way, we honor our teachers and we enrich our students' learning.

Description

We help organize book drives to collect new and gently used books in local schools and community organizations throughout the school year. When we have enough books for one school, we carefully sort the books and then contact one of the schools in DC with home we work and arrange for one of our Teacher BookShare events. We set up these events like book fairs where the teachers can browse and choose all the books they want...for free...to take back to their classrooms for their bookshelves.
