Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Faith Logistics is dedicated to providing the knowledge and skills necessary for ex-inmates to obtain a commercial drivers license and to assist with job placement as a way to reduce recidivism and the financial burden incarceration has on taxpayers while sharing the love that God has for His people.
Faith Logistics provides commercial truck driving training and job placement assistance to its graduates as a viable way of empowering individuals to be productive members of our community. Through the donations and support of the Turlock community, Faith Logistics successfully launched its driver program in June 2008, thus becoming the Nation's first tuition-free truck driving school. The program is based on a complete and comprehensive training curriculum that was created to be aligned with the Professional Truck Driver Institute (PTDI) and in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration Office of Motor Carriers. The program offers an exclusive 1:1 teacher to student ratio to optimize teaching effectiveness to be completed in 120 hours as set by curriculum objectives.
A unique aspect of Faith Logistics is that although it does provide tuition-free training to those enrolled in the program, it won't provide without a commitment to give back. Faith Logistics requires that all students enrolled in the program must be willing to volunteer at an organization of their choice for a minimum of 10 hours.
Mandatory community service is required for two distinct reasons:
- Reconnecting: It is imperative for the individuals that are re-entering society to make an immediate reconnection to the community in which they are returning. We feel individuals that build relationships within their community will also obtain a sense of belonging that will encourage them to be productive citizens.
- Giving = Getting: The act of giving to others is a powerful experience that often generates an internal intrinsic reward that can be life changing. When you give of yourself, what you get in return is an empowerment that supports self-worth and purpose.
