Mission Statement

To help refugee and immigrant families access health and other social benefits with special focus on women, children, youth and the elderly in their resettlement process in Pennsylvania; mobilize African cultural artesian, performing and recording artists to create an awareness of the African Culture; promote the preservation of cultural values as well as support artists efforts to promote their own vocations in their new environment

Description

•To provide immigration/documentation services as equired by US immigration laws, rules and regulations, and follow-up with "change-of-status" applications for refugee, asylum, permanent resident (green card) or citizenship status as needed, for resettlement in their new environment.

•To provide services to refugees and immigrant families to access needed public and private services, such as housing, employment, health, etc., as needed.

•To provide adults and children with educational services -classes in basic reading, writing, arithmetic and computer classes for all ages.

•To hold periodic seminars, workshops and conferences that bring refugees and immigrants together with immigration attorneys, social service agencies, public officials on issues relevant to the needs of refugees and immigrants, in an advisory setting.

•To bring African/Caribbean and American artists/entertainers together to encourage, improve and harness their talents in order to promote and advance African/Caribbean/ American understanding, unity and cooperation and, thus impact the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan area and neighboring areas.

•With community support, initiate and develop social and economic development schemes in the immediate communities - job training, neighborhood improvement, crime prevention, summer camps - designed to take young people off the street and into the classrooms.
