Mission Statement

CHADD (Web site: www.chadd.org), based in Landover, MD, is a national, non-profit, organization providing education, advocacy and support for individuals with AD/HD. The group publishes a variety of resource materials for educators, professionals and parents. The organization was founded in 1987 in response to the frustration and sense of isolation experienced by parents and their children with AD/HD.
Students with AD/HD frequently are labeled "a behavior problem," "unmotivated," or "not intelligent enough." CHADD provides education, advocacy and support for these students and their families. AD/HD is medically and legally recognized as a treatable yet potentially serious disorder, affecting up to three to five percent of all children, and approximately two to four percent of adults. CHADD represents 20,000 members nationwide.
