Mission Statement

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to Eliminating Cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.

Description

This year, nearly 1.3 million people in the United States will find out they have cancer, and 555,000 American will die. By becoming a volunteer of the American Cancer Society, you are helping to find a cure for cancer and reduce the burden this disease has on our community. The American Cancer Society is on eof the most recognized names in the country. By reaching our 2015 goals, 4.9 million lives will be saved. For the first time in history, overall death rates from cancer in the United States have begun a steady decline.
