Mission Statement

The American Pianists Association is the pre-eminent organization in the United States dedicated to advancing the careers of American classical and jazz pianists between the ages of 18 and 30, whose artistry in performance merits international recognition. Through competitions, fellowships, and career management assistance, the APA enhances and promotes the performing artistry of American pianists, enriching their lives and the lives of their audiences worldwide.

Description

The APA has a rotating schedule of Jazz and Classical piano competitions. In April 2001, the APA held the 5th American Jazz Piano Competition. Aaron Parks was selected as the "Cole Porter Fellow" and his Fellowship will include a $10,000 cash prize, production of a CD, and career assistance for two years. In 2002-2003, the Classical Fellowship Awards will be held and a similar prize will be awarded to the two Classical Fellows.
