Mission Statement

Special Spaces creates Dream Bedrooms for children with a life threatening illness. We create a place of peace and comfort where they can heal and recover.

Where does a child go when battling a series illness to find peace and comfort? They aren't going to school or play dates. They are spending a lot of time in their rooms and their rooms now resemble hospital rooms with all their equipment and medicines.

Special Spaces wants to change that. We create the bedroom of their wildest dreams all while addressing their medical needs. Each design team pairs up with a local company and we make the room happen all in one day. It’s like Extreme makeover with a cause. Watch as Sophie’s dream princess room comes true.

We started the Illinois Chapter almost years ago. Since then we have completed 90 dream room makeovers and now have four chapters under the Illinois Umbrella. We are currently looking for new associate Directors to design rooms. Trianing will be provided. We look forward to hearing from you.

Jennifer Swain was great to work with. She connected us with Hunter, a five year old in need of a "Therapy Room". We were able to give Hunter a safe place to play. Thank you Special Spaces for the opportunity to give where it counts the most, to a child in need.
