Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Provide a venue for adult musicians from throughout the community, and from a broad spectrum of backgrounds, to participate and play music for the enjoyment of themselves and the community. October, 2009 marks 30 years of dedication to that mission.
The Plano Community Band has continuously served Plano and the surrounding communities since 1979, an achievement of 30 years of performance and service to the community. 2009-2010 will be our celebratory year! The band is a non-profit organization comprised of approximately eighty adult volunteers from many backgrounds, occupations, ethnicities, and origins who are actively involved in year round rehearsals and performances throughout the Metroplex. Our purpose is to provide quality music, free of charge, to a wide variety of audiences in the Plano and surrounding area for their enjoyment and appreciation of music. Our repertoire includes classical, jazz, traditional, swing, show tunes, marches, and TV and movie themes. We requested and are privileged to represent the City of Plano at civic events, and all of our funds go directly into providing music for our community. In addition, we provide a venue for adult musicians from all walks of life in our community, without bias of age, gender, economic status, veteran status, or ethnicity, to participate in a musical experience while providing a service to the community. All band members are volunteers and uncompensated. We rehearse weekly at one of the schools located in the City of Plano or surrounding communities. Our organization stands apart in the community in two ways. First, all of the members are volunteers. Second, all of our performances are free. We are committed to providing a cultural, artistic, and family experience to the residents of Plano and the surrounding community without any financial obstacle.
