Description
The Traverse Health Clinic is a community based, nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to serving the health care needs of the uninsured and underinsured adult residents in Benzie, Grand Traverse and Leelanau counties.
We address the issue of access to health care through two means - we manage a community volunteer provider network as well as provide direct care at our on-site clinic. We provide access to a broad range of primary and specialty care at our on-site clinic with community volunteers, as well as education and health promotion. We have medication access, dental, vision, mental health programs, specialty clinics and outpatient lab services which are provided by Munson Healthcare.
We are also committed to being a voice for the uninsured and thus collaborate with local organizations that address the growing crisis of the underserved. Together, we hope to improve access to quality, affordable health care.
With more than 485 medical provider community volunteers, 65 clinic and CHAP volunteers, and 31 full and part-time staff, we represent a grassroots response to the health care needs of the uninsured and underinsured persons in the counties of Benzie, Grand Traverse and Leelanau. In 2008, our volunteers donated 4,200 hours of their time and $5.6 million worth of medical services to our patients.
