EF Foundation for Foreign Study is a non-profit, 501c3 organization dedicated to encouraging cultural awareness through international education and exchange.
Today, EF Foundation reaches over oceans and across borders to teenagers around the world, providing semester and year-long American high school experiences. With the support of host families, high schools and EF Foundation representatives, we open the world for today's students and tomorrow's leaders.

By hosting an international exchange student or becoming a local coordinator with EF Foundation for Foreign Study, you can truly change the world, one person, one family, one relationship at a time. You'll bring the world into your home and community, and gain a new understanding of a different country and culture. And you'll make the American dream a reality for a teenager from across the globe. It's one of the most worthwhile things you can do to make the world a more caring place.
Since 1979, EF Foundation for Foreign Study has been dedicated to building bridges between cultures and introducing enthusiastic young exchange students to the real America. During this time, over 100,000 volunteer host families have made a tremendous impact in breaking down cultural barriers by opening their homes and their hearts to students from over 35 countries. Your family will benefit greatly as you get to learn about another culture first hand and you build a friendship that will last a lifetime.
Every year, nearly 3,000 international students come to the US to live with a volunteer host family and attend the local high school for a semester or academic year.
Our dedicated network of 700 coordinators nationwide provides our host families, students and participating high schools with unparalleled support and guidance throughout their exchange experiences. Our coordinators hold orientations to prepare families and students for this unique experience and our national office is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our coordinators also receive unmatched training and support from our national office. We provide trainings at the local and national levels for new coordinators, and hold conventions annually to ensure our field staff is kept up to date with industry changes. Our coordinators are reimbursed for their expenses and may also earn travel and merchandise with our Rewards Program .
